Ms. Karol M. Pessin holds her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall). She is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and other various US District and appellate courts.
Ms. Pessin has been practicing intellectual property law for more than 25 years. She has expertise in a variety of legal areas, including intellectual property and business strategy, licensing, pre-litigation activities and litigation assistance, as well as preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
Ms. Pessin began her career at the noted IP boutique, Lyon & Lyon, litigating some of the cases that formed the basis for current life sciences patent law. She joined Amgen, during its period of rapid growth, where she held various senior positions in the law department, including responsibility for the IP surrounding Amgen's G-CSF products, Neupogen® and Neulasta® (2010 sales approx. $5B).
